Swabian MeadowFruit

Guaranteed origin | deeply rooted | genuine taste

Our MeadowFruit - from the orchard to a tasty cider We have been passing on the added value of our WiesenObst creations to our producers and suppliers for over 20 years. We make them proud to own patches of orchard and harvest their single variety apples and pears. The old form of cultivation protected under the designation of origin 'Schwäbisches WiesenObst' has taken on a pioneering role in the world of sustainable agriculture. Our deep-rooted giant trees take decades to develop, with the forest-like trees spending the first decades of their life growing and building networks in the soil. Only then does the tree begin to bear fruit. Generations come and go. Everything we newly plant in our meadows will be harvested by our children's generation, or more likely our grandchildren's generation.

"Swabian MeadowFruit is a biodiversity champion and offers a deeply-routed genuine taste experience.

Guaranteed origin

Swabian MeadowFruit comes from local meadow orchards that comply with the strictest standards when it comes to protecting the environment, nature and cultural landscape. An external inspection body ensures weadhere to these extra claims.

Deeply rooted

Deeply rooted in the ground by taproots, the old meadow fruit trees grow to an impressive height of up to 15 etres.

We owe the success of our orchards to the work of our forefathers.

Genuine taste

MeadowFruit trees get their unique special taste from the nutrients and minerals absorbed by the trees from the lower soil layers through their deep roots, keeping them well-nourished at all times.

Classics out of MeadowFruits

Jörg Geiger is able to trace his fascination with old Swabian fruit varieties back to his childhood. Looking into the history of the Champagner Bratbirne, a special kind of Swabian perry pear, inspired him to breathe new life into the tradition of sparkling pear cider. For centuries, it has been the queen of pear cider varieties - changing with the times, rising with the trends. One of ou latest products, a true original and pioneer in non-alcoholic aperitifs and food accompaniments is our alcohol-free Champagner Bratbirne pear cider.

Respecting tradition while protecting nature

In order to preserve the unique cultural landscape of orchard meadows in our region and to protect this unique natural monument, we have decided to introduce some of our products to a wider audience. We now offer certain WiesenObst specialities in non-alcoholic versions for our individual product lines. Growing awareness of the Manufaktur Jörg Geiger brand makes a major contribution to our sustainability projects (soil revitalisation, soil diversity, nature conservation and preserving the diversity of varieties). 'If you want to preserve old varieties you need understand, why they were originally planted over 150 vears ago', says Jörg Geiger, chairman of the Schwäbische WiesenObst e.V. association.

The MeadowFruit ecosystem

The land cultivated by WiesenObst is an ecological system comprised of many different organisms that allow other species to flourish and thrive. Our main goal is to support the coexistence of organisms living above and below the ground and to strengthen the interactions between trees, grass, herbs, birds and insects along with earthworms, tiny soil organisms and fungi (mycorrhizae). Each of these important players give the others what they need to survive.

MeadowFruit therefore cultivates permacultures: A community of fruit trees, berry bushes, grass and deep-rooted herbs that permanently co-exist in an area. The resulting permaculture is based as closely as possible on natural ecosystems in a forest landscape. Healthy soils and diverse soil life are the key ingredients. Only with these aspects can we create or delicious WiesenObst fruit.
